Post Surgery Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation can be commenced as soon as your surgeon has referred you to a physio. In many cases Post Surgery Rehabilitation is able to be commenced from as early as 1-2 weeks after surgery.
Your physio can also assist with keeping an eye on your wound healing process. They can then advise you to see your general practitioner, or return to the surgeon if the wounds aren’t healing as they should.
Here at Paddington Physiotherapy and Podiatry we see a lot of the standard post-surgery rehabilitations such as:
- Cruciate reconstruction / total knee reconstruction
- Total knee replacement
- Total hip replacement
- Rotator cuff repair
- Achilles tendon repair
- Fixation of fractures
We also see complex surgery like that of the ankle and foot. With some complex surgeries, we will see patients quite early on, to ensure the immediate management is as safe and effective as possible. This can help you return to the activities you love and need to do at a faster rate
We can assist your rehabilitation journey, through a range of services including:
- Mobilisation and restoring range of motion
- Therapeutic Exercise Prescription (Strengthening, Proprioception, Flexibility)
- Pain Management
- Footwear advice (and orthotics when necessary)
If you’re already a current patient at Paddington Physiotherapy, feel free to advise your surgeon that you would like to do your post-surgical rehab with us here – Specialists are often more than happy to refer their patients to our clinic. Although, if you haven’t been a patient here before, but would like to see one of our practitioners, you may also ask your Specialist to refer you to Paddington Physiotherapy & Podiatry!
If you have any questions about your post surgery rehabilitation or what you might need to do, feel free to call us on (07) 3511 6352 and we will be happy to provide you with some further assistance!
