Treatment is biased towards manual & exercise therapy. Our management of the patient’s condition is designed so the patient knows exactly what they are trying to achieve & why. This results in greater compliance resulting in fast & effective resolution of the condition.

Liza Devlin - Specialist Sports Physiotherapist

Liza's interests lie in sports & musculoskeletal medicine, particularly lower limb injury. After graduating from University of Queensland in 1993, Liza spent two years working in outpatient musculoskeletal physiotherapy & in the field of sports physiotherapy prior to completing a postgraduate diploma in Sports Physiotherapy, at Curtin University, in Perth. Liza then worked for two years in a Manipulative Physiotherapy private practice while completing her Masters of Sports Physiotherapy, focusing on hamstring pain. During this time, Liza was working with Club & State Representative Rugby Union teams & Australian Division II Schoolboys Rugby Union.

Upon return to Queensland, she has then had further experience as a private locum before establishing this practice in 1999. She has worked with Qld Suburban Representative Rugby Union (Qld Schoolboys), the Qld Rugby Union Referees Association, Club Rugby Union, Junior Rugby Union, & Tertiary Rugby League, as well as lecturing for Sports Medicine Australia. Liza has also been working as a Clinical Supervisor at University of Queensland in the Masters of Sports Physiotherapy programme. Liza works with the Medicals Rugby Union Club. Liza has a specific interest in sports injuries & their prevention. She has always had an interest in postures & movement patterns & is currently combining this interest with her new hobby photography. Liza is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, Sports Physiotherapy Australia, Physiotherapy Business Australia, & Sports Medicine Australia.

Liza has recently achieved acceptance as a Fellow of the Australian College of Physiotherapists. She is one of only six Specialist Sports Physiotherapists in Queensland and one of only twenty-seven in Australia.

Chari Mouton - Physiotherapist

Chari joined the practice in early 2009. She graduated from the University of Otago, New Zealand in 2006 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy & in 2009 with a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Science (Physical Conditioning) through AUT University, New Zealand. She has worked in private practice in New Zealand where she gained a broad experience in a variety of areas including post surgical rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, occupational health & sports injury rehabilitation & exercise prescription in the gym & pool. Chari has experience in post surgical rehabilitation of the shoulder, knee, hip, cervical & lumbar spine.

She has an interest in postural biomechanics & restoration of movement patterns of the upper & lower limb. This is combined with an interest in sporting injuries & re-conditioning for maximal sporting achievement. Chari has extensive experience in assisting patients to return to the gym following injury. Chari has experience in the acute rehabilitation of sporting injuries as she worked with club rugby teams in New Zealand for 3 years and is currently working with the Medicals Rugby Union Team. Sacro-iliac joint pain & core control including some women’s health are areas of interest.

Chari is enjoying treating shoulder conditions including post-surgical shoulders. She is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association & Sports Physiotherapy Australia.

Andrew Miller - Physiotherapist

Andrew was awarded his Bachelor of Physiotherapy from University of Queensland in 2005 & has worked in private practice since, joining us here in early 2008. He is studying Medicine at University of Queensland. He has a wealth of experience in Occupational health & with treating work injuries & overuse injuries, in particular back & neck pain & headaches & tennis elbow. Andrew has experience in worksite assessment & interventions & is skilled at suggesting cost-effective solutions to ergonomic issues & reducing injury in the workplace.

Andrew has worked with rugby league & rugby union teams & is currently playing rugby for the Medicals Rugby Union Team.

Sophie Fincher - Physiotherapist

Sophie has been working with us since early 2008. She attained her Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Latrobe University in Melbourne in 2006. Since doing so she has spent the majority of time working in rehabilitation - with a particular focus the improvement of movement patterns & posture. Postural & gait reeducation are key areas Sophie is interested in - especially the core stability associated with treatment of neck pain, low back pain & other conditions such as scoliosis. She also has an interest in areas of physiotherapy particular to women’s health - including pregnancy, pelvic floor retraining & incontinence.

Sophie has sports injury management experience, having worked for a suburban AFL team in Melbourne for 4 years. Her responsibilities at the club included management of acute injuries, long term treatment plans & conditioning to prevent the recurrence of injuries. She has experience in post-surgical orthopaedics in particular early intervention following lower limb surgery. Sophie moved to Brisbane at the beginning of 2008 & is currently studying Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland.

Podiatry Staff

Mandy Cheales - Podiatrist

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Health Science (Podiatry) from QUT, Mandy has been working in a podiatric capacity at a variety of clinics across Brisbane. This exposure has given her a broad range of skills and developed special interests.

Mandy has a special interest in biomechanics, sports injuries & the diagnosis & the management of lower limb problems utilizing the prescription, adjustment & fitting of orthoses. Our podiatrists & physiotherapists advocate the early management & prevention of bunions due to flat feet & footwear including relevant footwear advice.

Mandy's interest in paediatric foot conditions and the prevention of foot conditions in children includes screening assessments and footwear advice as well as orthotic prescription.

Mandy is experienced in the management of foot conditions that occur with chronic diseases such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis & osteoarthritis. Her approach to chronic diseases emphasizes education, early intervention & prevention of complications.

Mandy is highly skilled in procedures to manage general foot care for example cracked heels, fungal & bacterial foot infections, ingrown toenails, calluses & corns – encompassing what used to be called Chiropody. Nail surgery, wound & ulcer management & the management of risk in the diabetic foot are also common conditions for podiatric management.

Mandy believes that each patient is different and that their treatment programme should reflect this. She is also an advocate for multi-disciplinary approach to patient care, helping people achieve optimum quality of life.

Megan Oster - Receptionist

Megan is currently studying 2nd year of a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Queensland. Megan has experience in customer service in small business.

Amy de Jong - Receptionist

Amy has commenced studying a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Queensland. She has experience in the hospitality and retail industries.

Kristy Sinclair - Receptionist

Kristy joins us after extensive experience in office management in a company supplying construction and building materials. Kristy is currently studying a Business Management degree at Queensland University of Technology.

Georgia Quinn - Receptionist

Georgia has worked at Paddington Physiotherapy & Podiatry since 2006. She is experienced in the retail industry & customer care. Georgia is interested in fashion & has completed a Diploma of Fashion in 2007. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Business at Queensland University of Technology, majoring in Public Relations & Marketing. Georgia has commenced an Events Management job and will be covering reception here occasionally.

Kitty Devlin - Walk-Leader & Mobile Marketing Manager

Kitty is our walk-leader & fitness assistant & whilst a bit inexperienced, Kitty makes up for this in enthusiasm. Being very fond of her food, Kitty is a great believer in regular exercise to keep her trim & toned! Kitty has been part of the team here since March 2007. Kitty enjoys watching and singing at med rugby. She relishes her role of Mobile Marketing Manager attending regular public events wearing her Paddo Physio coat.
