Could the problem be coming from your feet?
Is your foot alignment correct?
The average person walks approximately 128 000 km in a lifetime, the equivalent to three times round the earth. It is therefore critical for your feet, the base support for the entire body, to be aligned correctly. Abnormalities in foot biomechanics can be the underlying cause of shin, knee, hip and lower back pain. Feet that roll inwards (pronation) or outwards (supination) too much can cause such problems. This is often evident when checking the wear patterns on your shoes.
Are you wearing the right sports shoes?
It is great to see you all exercising, but are you in supportive footwear. Most sports and exercise programs place higher physical demands on our body than normal day to day activities. For example, when running, 3 to 5 times your body weight is absorbed through your feet. So it is very important that your shoes are providing you with the correct support and shock absorption needed, in order to protect your joints. A podiatrist can give you footwear advice and make sure you have chosen the correct shoe for your type of activity.
